AFA of PA ACTION ALERT

April 27, 2011

Issues  (check corresponding number in ‘Details’ and ‘Action’ Sections)

1.)     Concerned About the Federal Budget?

2.)    Our Taxpayer Dollars Spent on Philadelphia Homosexual Event

Details

1.)     What’s the difference between $100 billion and $352 million?  I’m not a math person, but that’s a big difference!  The first number is what was promised to be cut from the federal budget, while the latter represents the number that was actually cut in the deal struck between the White House, Republicans and Democrats just weeks ago.  That equals saving about 51 minutes worth of spending!

2.)    Pennsylvania is again listed as a sponsor of the week long homosexual event Equality Forum.  This is through a grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).  The AFA of PA has sent a Right to Know Request for a copy of all the contracts between DCED and Equality Forum over recent years.  A couple weeks ago they asked for a 30-day extension to fulfill that request. We know that between mid 2003 and mid 2007 almost $300,000 tax dollars were given to Equality Forum.  A ‘drop in the bucket,’ yes, but where do we stop those ‘drops’ from being poured out of a bucket that too many policy makers believe is bottomless?  Click here for a list of all 2011 Equality Forum donors/sponsors!   Click here for Equality Forum’s  Monday through Friday schedule  and here for their Saturday and Sunday schedule.  The question is do you want your tax dollars to be spent to undermine the family, military, promote homosexuality in our public schools, etc.?

Action Steps

1,)  Congress members and Senators are again back in their home district – this time on Spring Break.  But they (we) face two more critical battles when they return:  the potential debt ceiling increase and the budget for fiscal year 2012.   In conjunction with the TEA Party Patriots, we are asking you to visit your Congressman  (click here for locations) and Senator Bob Casey’s (click here for Senator Casey’s information) district office nearest you at 12:30 on Thursday, April 28th.  If you cannot personally go to these district offices, please call them with these messages.  This is what we are asking of Congress:

a.)    No Debt Ceiling Increase.  Do not raise the debt ceiling.  Our credit is maxed out and it is time to cut America’s credit card.

b.)    Support the Full Faith and Credit Act.  Urge them to support the Full Faith and Credit Act introduced by Senator Pat Toomey. This will insure that America pays our debt first and does not default on it.  (When you call Senator Casey’s office ask him to use Rule 14 to bring the Full Faith and Credit Act to a vote on the  Senate floor.)

c.)    No Tax Increases.  Tell them not to raise taxes. Tax increases at this stage in our economy will further slow the economic recovery. They have enough revenue to run the government.

2.)  Contact Governor Corbett and ask that our tax dollars not be used to undermine Pennsylvania families or promote homosexuality in schools through funding the homosexual event Equality Forum.  Call him at (717) 787-2500 or use the e-mail form here.
