Pennsylvania Taxpayer Dollars Spent on Efforts to Redefine Family, Military, Society
(Philadelphia) — The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is once again listed as a sponsor of the week long Philadelphia homosexual event Equality Forum. On April 6th the American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide pro-family group, sent a Right to Know Request to the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) asking for information about contracts between them and Equality Forum. On April 14th the AFA of PA received notification from the DCED for a 30-day extension. In the meantime the AFA of PA has contacted Governor Corbett with our concerns about the expenditure of taxpayer dollars to an organization which seeks to redefine marriage and family and to undermine our military.
“Clicking on the Pennsylvania logo on Equality Forum’s sponsor/donor page takes you directly to DCED’s site, so we know who’s sending them the money. Pennsylvanians’ hard-earned tax dollars don’t need to be spent on undermining our families and schools as a look at Equality Forum’s schedule shows that’s their intention,” explained Diane Gramley, President of the AFA of PA.
In the past the AFA of PA used a Right to Know Request to the DCED and found they had given Equality Forum grants totally $275,000. These were for such things as Tourist Product Development, Employment & Community Conservation, and Community Revitalization Assistance. Last fiscal year Equality Forum received $185,000 in government grants. Were these all Pennsylvania tax dollars?
“It’s a real stretch to say that Equality Forum is revitalizing and conserving the community through its activities. Some will say the money they get is a ‘drop in the bucket,’ but Pennsylvania’s fiscal house will never be in order until the leaky bucket is repaired. Taxpayers in Pennsylvania do not want their money spent to help support the activities of an organization which undermines their families and indoctrinates their kids in the public schools. Our communication with the Governor informed him of this waste of tax dollars and outlined our concerns,” Gramley continued.
