Ask the Boy Scouts Not to Allow Jerry Sandusky to be a Scout Leader

Details

Jerry Sandusky isn’t actually preparing to be a Scout leader, but here are some statistics you need to look at to see how dangerous it will be for the Boy Scouts to lift the ban on homosexual leaders and members:

  • Department of Justice reports that 67 percent of all reported sex abuse victims are children and 64 percent of forcible sodomy victims are boys under 12.
  • In a study published in 1987 in the Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Dr. Gene Able said homosexuals sexually molest young boys with an incidence five times greater than the molestation of girls.  It found that 150 boys are abused by one male homosexual offender, compared to 19.8 girls by heterosexual offenders.
  • In 1996, the journal Adolescence reported several studies indicate that up to one-third of all sex crimes against children are committed against boys.
  • Population study by the U.S. Department of Commerce:  8 million girls were abused by age 18 by heterosexual men, a ratio of 1 victim to 11 adult men. However, 6-8 million boys were abused by age 18 by 1-2 million adult homosexuals, a ratio of 3-5 victims for every gay adult.

  1. Mary Nordyke says:

Please do not change your strong stance for morality and good ethics and change your policy re the ban on homosexuals being able to have membership in BSA. Doing so will invite “wolves” in among our young male sheep, putting them in grave jeopardy of lifelong harm.

Please trust in God to take care of your organization if you do the right thing. Trust that others will step up and reward your courage in this difficult time by coming forth to be financial supporters or those currently supporting in large and small ways will increase their donations–I will!!!! And I only live on SSI. We are so in need of those brave enough to fight against the many evils of the day in our country, of which the “gay” movement is one. Please, please, maintain your stance and many like me will step up to support you. God bless you! Do not fail us and weaken us and our great country in this time of need.

My son is an Eagle Scout. Many wonderful leaders worked hard to help him meet the requirements because his father was not around. It has made a huge difference in his life and one of his top priorities is to give lifelong service to the BSA, helping many boys as he was helped. If your policy is changed, he will not morally be able to stand with you and neither will I and so many of my friends and family. We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which has historically supported your organization. I knew I could trust the BSA to do their best to protect my son when he was in their care.

I have worked in the organization as a Den Leader and Charter Chairperson. I went through your training re education on abuse of children which is mandatory for all leaders. I truly support your work in both action and financially. My annual donation is meager but I pledge to increase it to double or more and I plan to always support you if you but will hold true to what you have formerly professed a conviction to. Please be an example to the boys and don’t sell out because of this pressure; please don’t rob them; please be true to what you know is right. Please place your trust in God and people like me. Perhaps you will have to cut back on some things—as our nation surely should—but don’t sell out. You are in my prayers.

    Respectfully submitted,
    Mary Nordyke
