Vote on Speaker of the US House Tomorrow — Boehner for Another Two Years?
Details
The last time Republicans controlled both the US House and US Senate was 2006. On November 4th voters gave Republicans a 54-46 majority in the Senate and a larger majority in the House. What will they do with those wins? Tomorrow, when the vote takes place for the new Speaker of the House, may tell us a lot about the new majority in the US House.
Although Boehner is expected to win the post for another two years, some Republicans have publicly stated they will oppose John Boehner for Speaker. Conservative Congressmen Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) and Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) announced their bid for the position over the weekend. North Carolina Republican Walter Jones says he will back former Florida State House Speaker Daniel Webster when his name is offered during debate over the vote tomorrow.
