According to the US Constitution, Article II, Section 2: “He (the President) shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to . . . nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the Supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, who Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for ….”
Senator Jeff Sessions is one of the most conservative members of the United States Senate and his confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee for US Attorney General began today. As expected, those opposing his confirmation were out in force today interrupting his hearing with some being removed by Capital police. Pointing to decades-old remarks, his opponents say he is a racist and anti-immigration. His Asian-American granddaughter who he was holding as he waited for the hearing to start was even attacked!
