Extending Time for Complaints to be Filed re Gender Affirmation

Details

Pennsylvania needs to follow the lead of other states that have passed legislation banning “gender affirmation care” i.e. puberty blockers, cross sex hormones and surgeries to remove healthy body parts.  Don’t expect that from the Democrats in Harrisburg and even if such a bill would pass, Governor Josh Shapiro would veto it!  But there is an effort to at least give minors who have undergone “transition” and changed their mind as they matured, some recourse.

As so-called “gender affirmation care” is becoming more prevalent and quickly prescribed (many times after less than an hour meeting with a therapist), the de-transition movement has also grown.  As these “trans children” have reached maturity, a growing number are realizing the grave, permanent damage they have done to themselves.  Did you know that under current PA law, any plaintiff aggrieved by a medical procedure performed while they were a minor, including so-called gender affirmation surgery, must file the cause of action prior to reaching 20 years of age?  Many brains have not even matured by then!  Many detransitioners are in their mid-20’s.  This bill would allow an individual to file a cause of action prior to his or her 30th birthday.
