2.)    Constitution Week

Issues  (check corresponding number in ‘Details’ and ‘Action’ Sections)

1.)     Tomorrow is the 9th anniversary of the terrorist attack on the US on September 11, 2001.  Controversy swirls around a proposed mosque within a short distance of Ground Zero in New York City and the “Crescent of Embrace” Flight 93 Memorial.  On September 11th both Michele Obama and Laura Bush will be in Shanksville, Somerset County to commemorate the bravery of the passengers and crew of Flight 93 as they fought to regain control of the plane.

2.)    Did you know Public Law 108-447 names September 17th as Constitution Day and requires each school receiving federal funds to hold an educational program on the Constitution?  In addition, Congress by Joint Resolution designated September 17 as “Constitution Day” and the week beginning September 17 and ending September 23 of each year as “Constitution Week.  What type program is your school planning?

1.) If you plan on going to the Flight 93 crash site, consider delivering a message to all those there.  Alec Rawls and Tom Burnett, Sr., whose son was killed in the Flight 93 crash, are taking out a full page color ad in the Somerset Daily American on Friday and Saturday.  Click here to view the ad.  If you are going, consider printing the ad or purchasing a copy of the paper and taking the ad with you.   My interview with Alec Rawls will be up on our website on September 11th

2.)     Click here for a great source of materials for Constitution Day/Week.   Check with your school to see what they have planned.
