We Know PA Children Have Access to Porn Via School Databases

Details

EBSCO and GALE both have been exposed for giving children access to pornography.  For several consecutive years EBSCO was even in the National Center on Sexual Exploitation’s Dirty Dozen List.  Some changes have been made, but there’s still porn available through these school databases and PA students have access to both!  EBSCO and GALE work beyond the school’s internet filters, so they are of no use.

Action Steps

1. Listen to Diane’s interview with Robin Paterson with Pornography is Not Education here

2. Contact the US Department of Education at edpartners@ed.gov  and express your concerns about pornography in school database products such as EBSCO and GALE.  Ask them to take steps to protect our children from being exploited.

3. Sign the Worldwide Organization of Women (WOW) petition regarding EBSCO and GALE databases (it will ask for money, but you don’t have to donate in order to sign the petition).

4. If you or someone you know has run into pornography in school or library databases, please take this survey

Our children deserve better than this from those which contract with schools!
