Eliminating the US Department of Education

Details

The US Department of Education has been around since 1980.  Since that time, we have seen the federal government dictate what schools can teach, how they can teach it and seen our schools becoming indoctrination centers for the Left.  This has been exposed extensively the past few years and parents have been ignored by school boards across the country and even been declared ‘domestic terrorists’ by this administration’s Department of Justice.  It is time for the unconstitutional US Department of Education to go!  Nowhere in the US Constitution does the federal government have the authority to be involved in the education of the nation’s children.

Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) has introduced a bill to eliminate the US Department of Education.  The bill simply says, “The Department of Education shall terminate on December 31, 2023.”

On September 24, 1981, President Ronald Reagan said, “By eliminating the Department of Education less than 2 years after it was created, we cannot only reduce the budget but ensure that local needs and preferences, rather than the wishes of Washington, determine the education of our children.”

President Reagan saw the department’s elimination as a way to reduce the budget and bring back local control.  Did you know the US Department of Education has 4,400 employees and a budget of $68 billion?  What has all those employees and those tax dollars brought us?  Failing grades and schools that have become indoctrination centers!
