Same Sex Marriage Defeated in Maryland
(Harrisburg) — Homosexual activists and their allies finally acknowledged on Friday that they did not have the votes to pass a bill legalizing same-sex so-called marriage in Maryland. The American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA), a statewide advocate for traditional marriage, notes that the ‘inevitability’ of same-sex marriage is overrated.
“For months now homosexuals and their allies in the General Assembly have said legalizing same-sex marriage in Maryland was a done deal, but the people rose up and said ‘NO.’ This goes to show that polling data that supposedly shows Americans acceptance of same-sex marriage growing is inaccurate,” noted Diane Gramley, president of the AFA of PA.
When left to the voters, the definition of marriage as only between one man and one woman has prevailed. People understand the need to protect marriage as the foundation for any sustainable society and the people of Maryland send a clear message to the members of their State House not to mess with marriage.
“The AFA of PA commends not only the black church and her leaders, but also Delegate Emmett Burns (D-Baltimore City) who stood against the homosexual activists’ ridiculous claim that same-sex marriage is a civil right. Delegate Burns notes that he has been called the ‘N’ word and threatened for his opposition to homosexual marriage. Yet another example of the intolerance from those crying tolerance the loudest,” Gramley remarked.
The effort to push so-called same-sex marriage on the rest of Maryland originated from homosexual activists in Baltimore and liberal suburban counties outside Washington, DC. The majority of Marylanders do not support this effort to redefine marriage and they spoke loudly to the legislators in Annapolis.
It is now time for Pennsylvanians to step forward and defend marriage as only between one man and one woman. It is time to get behind the effort to get a Marriage Protection Amendment before the people for a vote. Our children and future generations need that assurance that traditional marriage is the foundation of society and worthy of protection.
