Here is part of what Governor Josh Shapiro said in his Pittsburgh Pride Proclamation:
“It is my honor to welcome everyone gathered for the 2026 Pittsburgh Pride Month Celebration.
William Penn founded our Commonwealth on the principles of fairness and tolerance, and I believe we must continue to be a place that pays faithful tribute to those core values. LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians have been instrumental in the development of our state’s economic, cultural, spiritual, and political industries.
We must remain committed to continue working together to support LGBTQ+ Pennsylvanians by advancing legislation, breaking down barriers, and celebrating diversity and who we are as a Commonwealth.
As Governor, and on behalf of all Pennsylvanians, I am honored to welcome everyone to the Pittsburgh Pride Month Celebration. Please accept my best wishes for a memorable event and continued success.”
I don’t believe William Penn would support ‘pride’ events nor appreciate his name or principles of fairness and tolerance being brought up to support such events!
By the way, this year, Pittsburgh Pride’s Theme will be “Existence is Resistance.”
