Protect Downs Syndrome Babies in the Womb

Penn State Did What?? Weigh-in

Details

HB 2050 would ban abortions that are sought simply because of the sex of the child or a Down Syndrome diagnosis.

This bill was voted out of the House Health Committee on April 9th with all GOP members voting ‘yea‘ and all Democrat leaders voting ‘nay,’ except Florindo Fabrizio (not voting) and Gerald Mullery (‘yea’ vote). Click here to see how the vote came down.

This bill is expected to be voted on in the State House this coming Monday, April 16th. Governor Wolf has already promised to veto the bill, so we must pass it with a veto proof majority! As expected those advocating for the killing of unborn babies are out in full force lobbying against its passage.

Action Steps

  1. Contact your State Representative by clicking here
  2. Call his or her district office on Monday and ask for a ‘yea’ vote on HB 2050. You can find that information here by entering your address. Generally, district offices are not accustomed to constituents contacting them about legislation, so this will convey the message that this is an important issue and the Representative better pay attention!

On another subject: Penn State has now eliminated Homecoming Queen and King and, in the name of “diversity and gender inclusivity,” the student body will choose two individuals “regardless of gender, gender identity, and/or gender expression,” according to a news release. A poll that accompanies the Daily Collegian story shows an overwhelming lack of support for this change. You can weigh in here
